No staff access for CSE 316
This panel is for the CSE 316 Instructor and TAs (and site admins). If that should be you, ask the course admin to add your Google address — then sign out and sign in again.
CSE 316 staff
The course admin runs this course; editors (TAs) manage students. Only a site admin can appoint the course admin; the course admin can add and remove editors.
When lectures open
Each session is released to students on its opens date, so the course arrives at the pace of the class rather than all at once. Teaches is when the Sun/Tue sections meet — it is shown for context and does not gate anything. Dates are whole days (Dhaka); a session opens at midnight. You and the TA always see every lecture regardless.
Quiz & exam windows
Every auto-graded assessment with its live window. Edit and Save — changes take effect immediately. All times are Dhaka (UTC+06). An empty date means that bound is off (opens immediately / never closes).
Clears the student’s attempt so a one-shot assessment can be taken again, inside a personal window you set here — both dates are required. Their existing mark stays until they actually start the new sitting; if they never turn up, the mark they already had stands.
Course email
Every message goes out from CSE316@bitsarebits.com, to you, with the students it is for in Bcc — so no student sees another student’s address, and a copy of everything that went out is in your own inbox. Four reminders: a quiz opens, a quiz closes tomorrow (only to students who have not sat it), a paper is tomorrow, and a Sunday digest.
Scheduled letters
Emails you write yourself and send on a date you choose. A letter addressed per section goes out as separate messages — one per section, each with only that section’s students in Bcc and its own room and time filled in. Edit, move or cancel any of them right up until the moment they go. A letter with a field still empty is held back, not sent.
Marks by hand
Quiz 1, Quiz 2, the midterm and the final are sat on paper, and CSE 316L is marked out of 100 by the lab section, of which 25 counts. Download the sheet for one, type the marks in, and upload it back. The sheet always comes back carrying whatever is already recorded — so correcting one student is an edit, not a retype of the cohort. A mark above a question’s maximum, or anything that is not a number, stops the whole upload — nothing is half-saved.
Weekly online quizzes A1–A10 are marked by the server, so they need nothing from you — but they have a sheet here too, for when they do. It carries all ten quizzes side by side, one column each out of 20, already filled in with what the marker gave. Change a number to override it; type auto to hand that quiz back to the marker. A blank cell means the student did not sit that quiz and is never read as a zero, and a cell you leave alone stays the marker’s, not yours.
A grade appears on a student’s Results page only once their midterm mark is uploaded — before that there is nothing to show and nothing to switch. This is the master off-switch for after that: turn it off and students still see every mark and where they sit, but no letter.

Submissions & marks
Pick an assessment, then view submissions, scan for anomalies, or download the mark sheet. Access codes cover the whole roster.
The OBE grade
sheets come as one workbook per section, already filled in: the
roster, every raw mark in the cell you would have typed it into, and
every total, scale, best-of, CO and PO attainment and letter grade left
as the formula it already was — so the workbook does its own
arithmetic and cannot disagree with this site. Open it and it
recalculates. Re-download after every upload.
Just the marks is the flat grid instead: every student against
every assessment, best mark in each, blank where not attempted.
See the student view
There is no made-up student on this roster, and there should not be: a person who does not exist would sit in every Bcc list and every median. So instead the server hands you a look-only ticket naming a real student, and the site runs as that student for two hours.
What you get is the actual site, not a mock-up of it — the lecture gate really gates, the quiz list is really theirs, the results are really theirs. What you cannot do is write: a quiz cannot be started, saved or submitted from a preview, so nothing you do there is recorded against them.
