Two questions, over and over: what is subnet k called, and which subnet does this address belong to? Both answers come from one number — the size of a piece.

SUBNET k STARTS AT (k − 1) × size NAME = its own first address / new prefix WHICH SUBNET? ⌊offset ÷ size⌋ + 1 USABLE = N − 2
